RourKela Trekkers Club has been established with the primary goal of developing and promoting Tourism Villages through adventure sports and allied activities. The Club aims to position Rourkela as a premier destination for adventure enthusiasts across Odisha.
A key objective is to develop Tourism Villages in the remote wilderness areas and foster a spirit of adventure tourism and homestay hospitality among the youth of the village while also identifying and supporting potential mountaineers and competitive adventure sport enthusiasts in receiving professional Youthpreneur training. This training will enable them to pursue alternative sources of income within their local communities or secure relevant employment in the adventure sector worldwide.
The Club is entrusted with the following responsibilities:
- Organize Youthpreneur training, coaching, and support operation of excursion tours by qualified Youthpreneur for a wide range of adventure sports & tourism, including ground, aero, and water sports.
- Establish training facilities for:
- Adventure Sports: Mountaineering, trekking, rock climbing, cycling, motorcycling, and car races.
- Aero Sports: Parasailing, paragliding, hang gliding, hot air ballooning, and skydiving.
- Water Sports: Canoeing, kayaking, rafting, surfing, and sailing on seas, rivers, lakes, and other water bodies.
- Set up Youthpreneur training centres, academies, satellite centres, and base camps, while coordinating with similar institutions both in India and abroad.
- Explore collaborations with organizations such as the Indian Mountaineering Foundation.
Additionally, the Club will:
- Provide bursaries or fellowships to assist individuals pursuing advanced training for excellence in adventure sports.
- Encourage the private sector to contribute financially to the development of these facilities.
- Offer certificate courses in adventure tours and hospitality, adventure sports coaching, water sports lifeguarding, and sports management to create general employment opportunities.
