ACHIEVEMENT

Shri.Yogender Chaudhry, IRS 1989 Batch received this prestigious award given by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Foundation www.sardarpatelfoundation.org . This has been awarded to him in recognition of his achievement in the field of youth development in rural and tribal areas of the country by their education and empowerment, while working as Executive Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), an autonomous body of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, from January 2004 to 2007. Indian Revenue Service is proud of its officer.

The Citation reads

"Shri Yogender Chaudhry, an Indian Revenue Service Officer of 1989 batch, is a prominent name in youth development. He is presently working as Additional Commissioner of Income Tax at Delhi. he has earlier worked in Delhi police, Narcotic Control Bureau as Assistant Director, Ministry of urban development. His chief achievement was the youth development in rural and tribal areas of the country by their education and empowerment, while working as Executive Director of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), an autonomous body of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, from January 2004 to 2007.

Shri Yogender Chaudhry started several initiatives like organization strengthening, capacity buildup of youth club network, developing youth leaders from grass root levels, establish Regional Adventure Centers in 15 different states which provide job opportunities in adventure sports to the Indian rural youth of all regions. His unique and innovative programmes like Village Tourism and Rural Marketing have shown excellent results especially in rural youth employment in states like Kerala, West Bengal and HP. The Panchayat Yuva Shakti Abhyan, a campaign to ensure the role of youth in development and democracy; Red Ribbon Express (RRE), a comprehensive multi-sectoral, multi-media, multi-theme campaign in train on HIV/AIDS communication; Jung-e-Azadi-1857, a massive programme to commemorate 150th Anniversary of India's First War of Independence of 1857, using the youth clubs in Disaster Management, were all National level programmes organized under his leadership. Even after leaving NYKS, he continues to support to youth leadership development through his personal and professional expertise to uplift youth movement.

He has been regarded as an outstanding officer, with strong leadership and management qualities. His philanthropic spirit and dedication to public service inspired thousands of youth leaders. He believes in making a team and then utilizing their potential to develop the various aspects of life and make this world a better place to live in."
